The ISU Alumni Association’s Jeff Johnson and Carole Gieseke traveled with the Cyclone men’s basketball team to New York City on Wednesday as they get settled in and ready to play UConn in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament on Friday.
Travel day was a little dull. It went something like this:
- Load the buses in Ames.
- Ride to Des Moines.
- Sit in the airport for a very long time.
- Fly to Newark.
- Take a bus to our hotel in Midtown Manhattan, a trip that took slightly longer than the flight from Des Moines.
- Stand in a really long line at the hotel. (Actually, the team did not have to stand in the line, but Carole and Jeff did.)
And that was the day! Today the team is busy with practice and media…and the Alumni Association staff is getting ready for the fans who will descend on the Big Apple tomorrow.
